After some recent models that gradually have been moving away from the leading positions in high-end, HTC unveiled its HTC 10. They wanted to make a fresh start trying not to forget some of its identity, and that we see it in a different but similar name, and the same goes with your design.
For the change, HTC has changed to a date in which it presents its flagships, preferring to wait to take weeks from Samsung and LG releases so that no new mobile obscures theirs. But what else is there in this high-end HTC? Are they sufficiently equipped to be able to cope with guarantees rivals?
The HTC 10 is the new flagship phone Taiwanese company that was made keeping in mind perfection, or at least that’s what the company tries to convey. While the HTC One M7 was an exemplary cell that captivated millions of people, the One M8 was one of the most awarded during the year of its release and the One M9 was just an evolution of its predecessors. With HTC 10, the company not only integrates a new design that represents the evolution of line, combined with what is presented in the HTC One A9 but also simplifies the name to leave behind the “One M” the original title of the series.
The HTC 10 still represents good construction the company has integrated into their cell. It presents for the first time a fingerprint reader on a version of its flagship phone worldwide, promises better picture and brings an update of specifications that promises to deliver an excellent experience.
With the HTC One A9, this company showed their intentions to travel around the design of its devices, and after three years of clones to its range of flagships also it is time. Of course, changing the design while maintaining the quality of its materials, and betting once again for the metal outer casing.
What has fallen by the wayside is that pesky logo that used to put on the front earning him a few centimeters and its characteristic front speakers. Thus, they have changed from 5 to 5.2 inches while maintaining virtually the same height, however gaining a few millimeters wide and reducing its thickness compared to HTC One M9.
Still, these efforts seem to have been enough to stand out against some of its competitors. If we look at the table, other models with 5.2-inch screens like the Huawei P9 and Lumia 950 get more restrained sizes. On the right edge are the soundbar and the power button with a texture that makes them easy to differentiate. In that edge is also the drawer for the SIM card and on the left edge of the microSD card slot, up to 2TB. The back is still metal, but now has a new beveled edge that gives the phone a new look and makes it still feel good in the hand. In the back, the HTC 10 has the lens 12-megapixel camera, laser autofocus and flash. On the front, you find a fingerprint reader, the front 5-megapixel camera, and horn.
The screen of HTC 10 is not AMOLED, as anticipated before submission, but Super LCD. This technology, which was already installed on their predecessors, just leaves space between the screen and the sheet Gorilla Glass. The glass is placed directly on the panel. In practice, it has a vivid color representation and almost resembles some AMOLED panels. During the short time, the screen of 5.2 inches with a resolution WQHD makes no problem, even in direct light and viewing from different angles.
If anything highlights the new generation of mobile maximum range this year is that their internal specifications are being very similar, especially in their configuration processor, RAM, and battery. As always, there are exceptions such as Huawei or Exynos Galaxy S7 models, but in most others there are no surprises.
And watch out, that doesn’t mean that it’s good or bad, just that everyone is playing it safe with the Snapdragon 820, 4 GB of RAM and 3000 mAh batteries. Both of these configurations that fail to reach that appear below are repeated, and out of the norm as Samsung or Huawei may seem an unnecessary risk.
But where it is having differences is on the screen, and this is very important. On one side, drive a more capable screen can help the mobile stand out from the competition, but it is also something that can turn against the direct impact on autonomy. In this regard, HTC is not what you thought, and decided staking everything on the image quality.
Therefore, while manufacturers such as Huawei, Sony, Apple, and Xiaomi prefer to settle more than enough Full HD on their screens to save battery, Taiwanese join Samsung, LG and Microsoft when it comes to take the rest of resolutions QHD 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, commending the benefits of the processor that does not affect the autonomy too much.
HTC 10 is the top model in the company catalog. As such, the best time hardware is installed inside. We talked about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor at a maximum frequency of 2.2 GHz, accompanied by Adreno 530 CPU.
As for memory, the phone has 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. The latter figure can be extended to 2 TB via microSD card, thanks to the flash memory storage.
The only terminal that comes with similar hardware equipment so far is the LG G5 or, imported from China, the Xiaomi Mi 5. The latter has proven to draw some numbers yields similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 benchmarks Edge.
HTC smartphones are known for their BoomSound stereo speakers. These have also been installed on the HTC 10 only with one difference: the second speaker is not in the bottom of the front, but on the edge below. When playing music, the slightly sound changes. The front speaker functions as a player and the lower reproduce the lower frequencies.
The cameras of the latest Star HTC phones have been innovative but unfortunately never lived up to those of its competitors. HTC was able to recognize before anyone a larger pixel sensor improvement performance in low light conditions, which made them create the UltraPixel in the HTC one M7 in 2013. In late 2015, manufacturers like Huawei took this direction with its Nexus 6P and Samsung with its Galaxy S7.
In 2014, HTC introduced the One M8 with a camera that added great depth and high-quality sensor. It was very innovative but, unfortunately, not as good as some of its competitors. The same happened in 2015, in which names like Huawei / Honor began to develop good camera work at lower prices.
The new HTC 10 uses an image sensor 1 / 2.3 inches 12-megapixel resolution, in which the pixels measuring 1.55 microns. The opening of the camera has an f / 1.8 autofocus and hybrid laser to improve capture moving images.
