iPhone 6S Plus
If there are brands that have more or less fixed annual events on the calendar to reveal its Smartphones reference, Apple is arguably the most strict with the time to show the market how will their next iPhone be – now releasing the iPhone 6S Plus – as well as commissioning for sale which is not delayed more than a few weeks since making an appearance at the event.
Whoever sees an iPhone from last year and the new model 2015 will not be able to determine which model directly corresponds to each year. As for every “generation S” iPhone, aesthetic similarities are almost total and developments are in internal components and technologies that are released with the new model, as in this case is the 3D Touch.
The design hasn’t changed too much from the previous version. The speaker follows the lower right frame area, being quite easy to cover it and lose all sound. On the sides, there is a volume control, tab vibration or rotation, and on the right is the place for the SIM card and the power button, which still seems that could be more focused on the framework for ease of use with one hand.
The screen is perfectly attached to the metal body of one piece and where only the camera and protruding plastic bands for connectivity break the continuity.
While there are no apparent changes in the design, there really is one very significant: the aluminum finish that gives more strength and hand grip. But this improvement cannot compensate the fact that this is a less competitive Smartphone to the weight, height and width within the phablet and among relevant brands category.
Following the increase in the diagonal screen that Apple iPhone offered last year, we did not expect this change in any version. The 5.5 inches remain, along with a resolution of 1080p with barely surpassed the 400 PPI density.
As in sizes between 4.7 and 5 inches, 1080p resolution is something we already require a high-end terminal, 2K is a minimum that we have used in 5.5-inch diagonal, and where the eye can tell the difference. When we are talking about multimedia playback, the extra density is appreciated.
The density below 500 dpi is really the only important thing to put the iPhone 6s Plus screen hits. Apple is providing its terminals one of the best screens on the market for color reproduction, contrast, and brightness, as well in response to touch or viewing angles. But even in those paragraphs and consumer level, the iPhone 6s plus already has the best display of the year. The AMOLED Samsung, for example, are at a higher level. However, the Cupertino Company has not stood still when it comes to to the screen of their iPhone. But the most interesting of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6s plus is that you’re not going to see it but play it. We are talking about the touch panel capable of recording the intensity with which we pressed it.
3D Touch: an excellent idea to exploit
Release technology that Apple has decided to integrate with the iPhone 6s and 6s plus is not new. Huawei introduced it few days before Apple. Nor is it something that’s going to be strange in the industry for long, because after trying, it has much more sense than the curvature of the edges, for instance.
With 3D Touch panel, new iPhone can determine with what pressure we clicked on it and differentiate now between three states: classic touch, stronger pulse and a third applying even more strongly from the second state.
To get it, Apple has worked on two levels. The first is the hardware, which includes the sensor in the new terminal design on the screen and the vibration motor which premiered with the Apple Watch and has been used at all levels in the terminal.
The iPhone 6S Plus comes equipped with an A8 processor with the second generation of 64bit. As Apple stated in the presentation, this processor is 50% more efficient than the iPhone 5S A7.
All that is officially known is that the A8 processor is dual-core and rumor points to a clock speed of 1.4GHz but other sources suggest that can be up to 2 GHz.
Following in the footsteps of 5S, new Apple’s model has also incorporated a coprocessor. The M8 continuously measured data accelerometer, compass, gyroscope and a new function, the barometer. All these sensors are now also more advanced because they are able to measure your steps, distance and elevation changes. With this update, the work from the main processor is decreased, thus achieving greater energy efficiency.
Apple is responsible for giving a small step forward with each generation of iPhone in terms of processor, so it is not surprising that with the new A9 (64-bit) chip, the new phone will more fluid than ever. The truth is that generally you probably won’t notice a very striking difference between one and another phone, but the truth is that there is a change in the user experience: when launching apps, dip multitasking and up to handle yourself with a thousand tabs in the browser. Under the chassis, the A9 (dual core 1.8GHz, according to benchmarks tools) is given appointment M9 co-processor and 2GB of RAM -again, according to an external source, since Apple these things never spoken, the same that takes the iPad Air.
One of the most discussed points after the announcement of the new iPhone was the availability of a 16GB model, quite small for current consumption and production of files we do with our phones, coupled with the offer of a model 32 GB – you have to pay directly and move on to the 64 GB. Reviews could not be more right: 16 GB go too fast; a minute of recording 4K takes about 375 MB of space.
