Toshiba Tecra Z40 – Sturdy design, yet a lot lighter

The Toshiba Tecra Z40 is a 15.6” business laptop. The size of the screen reveals that this is quite a big laptop. It’s strong with a silver magnesium shell. Like most laptop, a camera can be found just above the screen, but is also includes a finger sensitive sensor below the touchpad, near the edge of the deck. Its overall size is (13.3 x 9.29 x 0.8 inches). What’s great about this laptop is that it has incorporated shock absorbents which protect the display panel, the hard drive and important components from being damaged if dropped accidentally. The entire laptop also seems a bit textures and has a nice black color. It is quite big in comparison to other but not very heavy.
The Tecra Z40 has a sturdy design but is a lot lighter than many of its competitors. The level of security is impressive. A combination of fingerprint and password, including other measures. If any inconvenience is to notice with this computer it’s that the keys seems a bit smaller, but again being well spaced between them helps eliminate many errors by typing adjacent keys. Needless to say that the laptop is quite expensive to obtain and would not be something you would consider if you do not need business-focused features such as Intel’s Vpro remote management and security hardware. Compared almost with others of the same category in the market, Toshiba’s Tecra Z40 does not seem to be overpriced.
With a resolution of 1920 x 1080, it what most professional would desire for heavy work load. In comparison, most powerful laptops in the market have such screen resolution. A gamut of 112 % sRBG makes the display sharp and colorful. Compared with other laptops in the market, it can be placed among the top first. It also has above average brightness of 265 nits. The screen has incorporated an anti-glare coating which regulates reflection if there is too much brightness keeping the images always sharp. The laptop does not use touch-screen technology. This is also an advantage since the screen is also not reflective, which makes it fantastic especially when using the product under sharp overhead lights.
The Tecra Z40 is quite a fast machine. It is powered by a 5th generation Intel core i7 -5600U processor and has 8 GB of RAM. Plenty of random memory for any type of activity. It includes Intel HD 4400 graphics and 256 GB of SSD. The Tecra Z40 has incorporated windows 10 for the operating system which is the latest version window of Microsoft.

Judging from the technical characteristic, this is a laptop that has been built for high performance, resistance. It can perform any type of computing tasks. A keyboard also has been designed to reduce adjacent errors by having the keys appropriately spaced between them. Besides the usual touch pad found in all laptops, it also includes a pointing stick and is the screen is touch-friendly. For anyone using this laptop, they would find it extremely responsive, with the exception if you are an expert, then maybe minor things could come to your attention like for instance seeing that the keys are only 13-millimeter-tall while in most laptops they stick out 15.5 millimeters. On the track pad is also incorporated an AFC reader and a fingerprint reader.
Similar with most business notebook, included on the Tecra Z40 is a pointing stick exactly in the middle of the keyboard between the keys G and H. Unlike other laptops, the click buttons are found above the touch pad, below the space bar. This makes it a lot easier to reach them when navigating with the pointing stick. The accupoint feels a bit rough on the finger and has sort of a gritty texture. The touch pad measures 3.95 x 2.25 inches and is quite responsive. The keys are backlit and spill-resistant.
A bio metric fingerprint scanner can be found below the touch pad. It can be used for different functions and as a security measure allowing to log on to the laptop, protect files and obtain internet access. A wizard guides the user through all the necessary steps for using the bio metric scanner. When in place and functioning, instead of typing the password on the log in screen, the user only swipes their finger.
The Tetra 40 incorporates multiple levels of security for the user which makes it more difficult for anyone else to access the laptop. Other measures include a TPM support which protects information and a smart card technology.
A VGA port, a USB 3.0, an HDMI port and a Memory Card reader can be found on the right side. A Gigabit Ethernet port, a headphones/mic jack, and two USB ports one of 2.0 and the other 3.0 are located on the left. A particularity with this laptop is that the card reader actually takes in the entire card so part of it does not stick on the exterior like in some other laptop.
Two built in speakers that are enhanced with sound software provide very clear audio, good enough for presentations or even conferences in the office. Included is Dolby DTS sound system and an app to optimize the quality of the sound.
The Toshiba Tecra Z40 does get a bit hot above the keyboard. On the left side are there is a fan that is reasonably quiet but would sometimes pitch higher when the laptop is under a heavy load.
As a business laptop, when purchased, it is almost blank. A software that acts like a PC diagnostic tool allows the user to optimize various settings. The laptop often is sold with a three-year warranty.
