Samsung Galaxy S5
Year after year the new Galaxy, the original, high-end, is probably the most anticipated Smartphone terminal in the world if we stick to the Android system, The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the fifth generation Galaxy S.
This time retaining many aspects of hardware design and the Galaxy S4, but adding features like heart rate monitor, fingerprint sensor, and water resistance. The Galaxy S5 has a 1080p Super AMOLED screen 5.1-inch, 16 megapixel camera with LED flash and video capture HD Ultra. Also 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, microSD slot, quad-core processor at 2.5GHz, battery 2800mAh and runs Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung interface, using best materials for the back instead of glossy plastic characteristic of previous generations.
The most common comments about the arrival of Galaxy S5 were focused on whether the Korean manufacturer was willing to match those who want his throne as reference terminal Android. In the end, Samsung has maintained its constancy and commitment to what has been operating sending a clear message to all the others about how to make extra efforts to get what we already have.
And what do they have at hand is a terminal known for the large consumer base snorkeling among high-end Smartphones, which with its new Galaxy S5 has given new paragraph dropper in design and finishing. Interestingly it is where the consumer usually sees at a glance the news of a terminal.
The Galaxy S5 can say that has definitely been very unhooked from the adventures and great achievements at the level of industrial design of Sony or HTC (in ecosystem Android) and iPhone, Lumia if we refer to Windows Phone and iOS respectively. There is little new about the Galaxy S3 or S4 beyond the progressive increase of the screen and return to less rounded and straight lines and shapes in its format.
Globally, the Galaxy S5 lost the personality and especially finish, but maintained good figures in weight, thickness and resistance.
The back cover is again removable and you can remove the battery, and again it comes with the display of strength and lightness that makes it clear that Samsung will focus on practicality.
The new thing about Galaxy S5 is that the back cover loses the very accurate way the glossy finish and collects an aesthetic and better grip that reminds us of the Note range, although leaning more youthful appearance and self-assured more professional look than the Note 3.
The clearly positive point of this generation in the design has to give it to water resistance, although this is an important sacrifice that for example the Xperia Z already surpassed its latest generation: the cap on the microUSB charging port. Although it conveys a sense of durability, to open and close it is not something the user wants to be doing every day.
The Super AMOLED panel is mature and without hidden experiments in each pixel (they are no longer using Pentile distribution but a new call – Diamond), the experience is very satisfactory. Everything is covered with intense colors but without excess, and brightness even allows a correct view outdoors, something that was a negative point of technology in earlier versions regarding the LCD. But they still have room for improvement in that particular use.
The maximum brightness of 456 nits DisplayMate is in manual mode, but we can reach it with the automatic mode if circumstances require up to 698 bits.
Where unbeatable screen Galaxy S5 is at minimum brightness, which a priori, may not seem important, but when you have the possibility to reduce almost to zero, is much appreciated.
In terms of size, the screen of Samsung Galaxy S5 increases almost imperceptibly diagonal of 5 inches from S4 model to the current 5.1. Everything would be out there but because the terminal grows a little high and wide, and we no longer as comfortable in the hand as with the S4.
The panel resolution Super AMOLED of the Galaxy S5 is set in 1080, which by accounts leaves us with a pixel density of 432 dpi, in line with other high-end devices on important and sufficient market to have an adequate level of detail and a satisfying experience in 5 inches, although the human eye could still thank that density increased up to 530 dpi.
A level of consumption the new panel brings good news. According to Samsung, the organic materials of the new panel can reduce consumption from the model S4 by almost 30%, which joins the Snapdragon 801 to get enough battery itself.
In the Galaxy S5, Samsung insists on the possibility to choose different profiles for the screen, and again, as it happened to the Note 3, the Film Mode seems the most appropriate and pleasant, but in general any of them will give us a satisfying experience.
A good jump in processor speed S4 to S5. The S4 reached 1.9GHz quad-core processor with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600. In the S5, you have a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor at 2.5GHz Qualcomm. 2.5GHz for a phone is very impressive.
The Galaxy S5 is placed at the head of specifications with the combination of known Snapdragon 801, in this case, 2.5 GHz (the One M8 works at 2.3 GHz) and 2 GB of RAM.
The Galaxy S5 has managed to offer a more satisfactory autonomy than it would be expected on the paper with a 2,800 mAh battery. But with the use of Qualcomm SoC, Samsung’s hand in the software layer and the new version of its AMOLED display make no problem to reach the end of the day with enough battery even be a pretty heavy user.
A user who does not abuse both Internet and notifications can achieve safe day and a half with the Galaxy S5 without charging it. In case we need to use it more than that, Samsung includes basic energy saving mode and one called Ultra Savings.
In regards to connectivity, the S5 is served to spare. The usual connectivity (LTE, BT 4.0, NFC, infrared port or WiFi ac) joins Ant + to gather information from different sports accessories, and a feature called Download Booster linking the Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity for receiving data simultaneously.
